CSB Gets A Great Review From GayDemon!

[Image] Crazy Sam's Bloginess: Luke Guldan

GayDemon* recently published a review about Crazy Sam’s Bloginess for their visitors.
Crazy Sam's Bloginess is an interesting, informative and intelligent blog by an Indian man named - good guess! - Sam! This is an engaging guy with great good humor and a light style that still manages to strike home with evocative stories from his own personal life as well as just all sorts of other things. His first post in the edition I am reading deals with his pleasure over receiving an OK from internationally-famous photographer Dan Skinner, offering Sam the 'all clear' to use any of his photos for this blog. Naturally, Sam thence puts up some amazingly tasty pictures of hot guys, including pics which go to high resolution and reveal much more than was initially thought! Sam discusses his own affairs reasonably publicly, including an introduction and very revealing emotional relationship of more than just a few years. His voice is all of our voices, in many ways, as he struggles to accept the affections of someone destined to leave at the close of a vacation, in spite of his deeper desires to hold onto the guy. It develops even more from there in a true-life tale of love and some lust. Otherwise, Sam's voice is nearly casual and easy to follow as he bends our attentions to other gorgeous men, situations and events. This is a fresh and stimulating blog, written by a regular human with honesty and appeal. It is also sexy as hell.

Thank you guys; this is one of the best reviews I have read about CSB. View the GayDemon post about CSB by clicking here.

In case you guys haven’t noticed, CSB has finally got a guestbook which you  can reach through the link that appears on the right most column. Oh, happy 2010 everyone!!

Valentine's Day Guest Post At Blogbharti!

Crazy Sam's Bloginess: I Love You

The guys at Blogbharti, Jo and Kuffir, thought it would be cool if I could write a guest post about Valentine's Day from an Indian gay's perspective. As much I considered it as an honour to write for a web space frequented by countless Indians, it was also that much scary to think of exhibiting my mediocre writing in front of that vast audience. But we felt, this time is the most appropriate to address the dilemma that every gay faces in our society. Because on Valentine's Day in India, straight couples are warned against hanging out in public - a synonymous situation that gays confront not just on Valentine's Day, but every day in this multicultural subcontinent. Since I'm always looking out for ways to cure homophobia, I realized Blogbharti is giving me yet another opportunity to do exactly that and I didn't want my diffident thoughts to stand in the way. Blogbharti has now put up my post, An Equal Love. [link] I request my readers to head to there and have a look at it. Hope you all like it!

Thanks Jo and Kuffir for bestowing me this privilege.

CSB Rocked In November!

Alright people, let me warn you. If you do not want to waste your next three minutes, skip this post immediately. This is gonna be the mother of all bragging, boasting, blowing, swashing, touting, vaunting,.. Okay you got the point, right? (There you go! Now I taught you synonyms. Who says CSB is nothing but gay talk? :D)

Crazy Sam's Bloginess

So in no particular order of importance:

Crazy Sam's Bloginess became one of the most popular blogs at Best Male Blogs (Warning! NSFW) during the second week of November.

Crazy Sam's Bloginess was able to touch the top 40 position for the first time during the second week of November at the Top Blogs Bloglistings of PLU Blogs. During the final week, CSB's rank came up to 35.

Google's PageRank for Crazy Sam's Bloginess raised from 3 to 4.

Crazy Sam's BloginessCrazy Sam's Bloginess got nominated in five categories for Avant Garde Bloggies Awards, an honest attempt from Poonam and team to showcase the best of Indian blogosphere. If you like to vote for me, please click on the following categories to reach their respective voting pages (and thank you!). The polling ends on 6th December 2008.
Most Beautiful Header
Most Interesting Sidebar
Best Blog Design
Best Eye-Opener Post (Gays And Mothers)
Best Courageous Post (Let's Talk About Porn)

Blogbharti, the Indian blog aggregator was courteous to introduce two of my November posts, Why Cosmopolitan Is For The Fun Fearless Gay Male [link] and Dostana [link], to their readers.

I am happy to know that the post on Dostana was well-received and even earned interest to be republished and echoed to the farther corners. Shaheryar Ali, who blogs at
Sherryx has asked my permission for a possible reproduction of the post on his blog.

During November, Crazy Sam's Bloginess had almost thrice the page loads, thrice the unique visitors and twice the returning visitors than it had on the previous months. The highest numbers ever, since this blog's inception. (*touch wood!*)

Crazy Sam's Bloginess

I know this post has that ugly boastfulness (Haha! As if you failed to notice it! :P), but my feet are firmly grounded because I know none of this would have been possible if I didn't have the support of my friends and readers. (Such a cliched dialogue, but that's the truth!) Even though I was never serious on updating CSB regularly, that didn't stop many of you to keep coming back. I'm grateful to all of you. Special thanks to all who stop by to comment my posts and send emails, you have no idea how much joy they bring to me!

I confess. This time I don't feel that usual excitement when I publish a shout out post, after being subjected to heartrending visuals for the past few days.

Bloggy Award Reviews Crazy Sam's Bloginess!

Crazy Sam's Bloginess

"Content is king. But design is queen." So says Bloggy Award, an esteemed blog reviewing site from Splashpress Media. At Bloggy Award, a blog is scrutinized based on five criteria.
1. Visual Aesthetics, 2. User Friendliness, 3. Reading Enjoyment, 4. Useful Info and
5. Overall Experience.

So when Crazy Sam's Bloginess managed to score the perfect 10 in all these criteria, need I tell you how excited and happy I was?!!
Here's what Bloggy Award had to report:
Crazy Sam’s Bloginess is the blog of a gay guy who wants to share his thoughts and experiences to the rest of the world. He describes himself as “not a serious blogger, but occasionally I feel like writing about myself, the people I meet, the experiences I cherish, the music and movies I love, the cute guys that catch my eyes…”

Visual Aesthetics - 10
Crazy Sam’s Bloginess uses a 3-column template and everything is arranged in such a way that the visual experience is just perfect. The ads, quotes, and posts come together so beautifully. The posts also have a smattering of relevant pictures - many of them eye candy.

User Friendliness - 10
Despite the immense amount of content, Crazy Sam is able to give his readers an easy time when it comes to finding information. The middle and right column provides a lot of relevant links which make for easy navigation. The pages load up with no problems at all.

Reading Enjoyment - 10
Here is one blog that will surely give you a grand time. The posts are very well-written. Crazy Sam sure knows how to play around with words to produce the effect that the post theme wants to portray, whether it be humor or serious insights. Oh, and the quotes from Will and Grace found in the middle column just cracked me up!

Useful Info - 10
There is a lot that a reader can learn from Crazy Sam’s Bloginess. Though the predominant theme is about the LGBT lifestyle, you will also find a lot of insights for straight people. I particularly like how Crazy Sam writes about movies.

Overall Experience - 10
Indeed, this is a “straight-friendly gay blog.” I can’t recall when I last had such fun browsing through a blog for the first time.
WOW!! Thank you Noemi for such a fine and encouraging review! I don't know how many times I reread that. And thanks to Splashpress Media, which promotes Bloggy Award heavily, the name, Crazy Sam's Blogginess gets "splashed" on around twenty additional websites in their network. Now that's quite a lot exposure!

Truth to be told, I have been following Bloggy Award for the past few months trying to see how Noemi's criticisms and suggestions can be used in this blog. Therefore I owe to her a lot because Crazy Sam's Bloginess would not have looked like this without her. And of course, how can I ever forget my blogger friends who always inspire me to write! You guys make even a boring and vacuous post interesting with your friendly and witty comments. As Crazy Sam's Bloginess reaches the 1 year milestone this September 12, I wish to thank all my readers for giving my blog a little time in your busy schedules. So here goes to all of you, a heartfelt THANK YOU!!

Although I know this is kinda overdue (but better late than never, right!), I just want to thank all my friends for their input to my last post. Your comments really gave an invaluable feel to it.

I also want to thank the authors of the following sites for directing traffic towards there.

Nick also points out the twisted ways that the media uses to enhance the stereotypes linked up with gays.

They featured my post as soon as I notified them, there by once again helping me to reach my voice outside gay community. Thank you Mridula!

This straight guy ponders why homophobia is so rampant in our society, exposes the harsh treatments done to "cure" homosexualism and talks about the misconceptions about gays. I wish there were more people who thinks like you!

Thank you Shaney for spotlighting my blog. LGBT Bloggers List presents to you a wide range of gay blogs in it's well categorized form. So what are you waiting for! Don't you think it's high time that you get your blogs added there?

The one stop to reach to sites and blogs that reported about the Indian gay parades.

Thank you guys! I feel so flattered and honoured.

I also want to thank unsungpsalm for his memorial (though I now feel that I didn't deserve it. Sorry dude for disappointing ya!) And thank you Whippy, thank you Pepe for your concern about my absence in the blogosphere.

This is to all my readers out there! Please keep coming back at least once in a week. Who knows, you may be even surprised to see a new post waiting to be read!

Crazy Sam's Bloginess Gets Chosen!

Recently, Crazy Sam's Bloginess got listed in the Gaydemon's Editor's Picks* - a collection of hand-picked quality gay sites recommended and reviewed by Gaydemon's* editor. Here's what he had to say:
.. Well he is a bit crazy. LOL. But in a funny and entertaining way in my opinion. You're not getting any porn at all here folks. Just a personal blog. Topics range from music, to how women really feel about gay men, and why India brides are in trouble. Apparently gays and brides don't mix. Another personal blog that could make for some entertaining and amusing reading. Nothing extraordinary at all, but it's always nice to see what people are up to.

Thank you dude! I'm really grateful for this honour. I didn't know that my blog was even enrolled in your directory. But I'm glad that it did coz I'm getting quite a number of hits from your site.

The Previous Post Gets Featured!

Thanks to Kuffir, my previous post on the dilemma that the Indian gays are facing when the society expects them to lead the customary life, gets featured on Blogbharti. Blogbharti is an aggregator that brings to the world the best of Indian blogosphere.

Often our thoughts are heard only within the gay community when it needs to be reached beyond that. Blogbharti has helped me to achieve exactly that since it has a wide range of audience. I thank the entire Blogbharti team once again for this honour. On this occasion I also want to thank all my readers, especially my friends who comment my posts, thereby being a source of inspiration to blog. Thank you guys! Yet Another Shout Out!

Mark Leslie Woods at Mordechai Razing Ziggurats remarks:
Crazy Sam's Bloginess is apolitical casual male sex with easy conversation blogspace. From time to time we post our web surfing finds -- thought you all might enjoy this unassumingly gentle gay gem.
Unassumingly gentle gay gem? Wow!! I'm flattered! Thank you Mark! It's very encouraging to see you guys are actually finding my blog interesting. Nope, I'm not being modest. Ask my friends, they will have hundreds of instances to prove how narcissistic I can be. One even told me that I might be suffering from delusions of grandeur. Lol!

Mark's post also has a screenshot of this page. I always wanted to see how my blog would appear on a widescreen and thanks to Mark, I got to see that. Click here to read the Mordechai Razing Ziggurats post.

Another Shout Out!

Although pretty much nothing exciting is happening on my side (that just explains why this blog is seeing less of my personal life nowadays), I am once again happy to make another shout out. Erik has selected Crazy Sam's Bloginess as one of the gay blogs he found interesting in 2007. In his blog, Best Gay Bloggers, his post links back to the one in which I describe my very first coming out experience. Thank you so much Erik!

To all my readers out there, I am very much grateful for all the support you guys are giving me. Hugs!!

A Shout Out!

I am happy to announce that the guys at LMGTS (LetMeGetThisStraight.Com) found Crazy Sam's Bloginess worthy to be mentioned in one of their posts. Thank you guys! I was totally surprised and honoured when I saw that post. I am glad to know that people are liking what I am writing. It is always a boost to your ego at a time when you see other blogs which you feel are far more superior and you question yourself, "If people are used to reading such quality stuffs, would they be liking mine?" So this just proves that you guys can tolerate what I am dishing out here. Lol!

Blog Reviewed

Crazy Sam’s Bloginess has articles written on a variety of themes. I was very pleased with the amount of pictures of good looking men on the site! The articles were well written and of a good length. There were a lot of film reviews and also general observations about life. I found it interesting and this sort of blog is not normally the sort of thing that I would read. I liked the layout but would have liked to have had the articles split into categories so it was easier to find an article on a particular subject.
- Our Blog Review

Thank you Rachel for reviewing my blog. I was quite doubtful while submitting this blog for the review because I saw mine is not the type you had done the reviews on. So obviously I was surprised and excited when I saw your notification about the review. I am glad that you liked my site and its contents and I really appreciate for taking time to go through my blog. About the articles to be split into categories, I had thought of doing it. But what is put here are mostly my random thoughts and I find it difficult to categorize them. To tell you the truth, the hardest part while writing a post is to find a suitable title. After typing the content, it usually takes ages for me to come up with a satisfactory title and I think it would be even more hard in the case of tagging my posts. I hope the search bar comes handy for checking specific posts.

So if any of you would like their blogs to be reviewed and want to see what others think about your site, just make a stop at Our Blog Review. I'm sure this would also help your blogs to get more traffic.

Today I and my friends were talking about Google's AdSense and how it was cool and all that. Well.. they were telling, for AdSense to happen, one needs to have a website or a blog and I so wanted to shout, "Guess what? I have one!" But even when having a blog, I can't enter the AdSense program. Coz, you need to give your real name and the complete home address. For closeted gays like me, it is risky to put all that info onto the net. But it would've been nice to have the AdSense running on my page. Sigh!

Why can't they come up with something like crediting some points for the clicks on the ads and trade that points for availing some online services, for example giving premium RapidShare account for a particular time period based on the points you earn. In that case, there is no need to collect the real name and the address.
What do ya think!

Update - Saturday, November 10, 2007:
As you can see, I was finally able to categorize the posts (Yaay!). Thanks to phydeaux3 for lucidly explaining how to create that cool label cloud.

Update - Friday, February 1, 2008:
You won't be able to see the label cloud now since I took it down for the new template.
